Solidification phenomena of weld metals (2nd report) solidification theory, solute redistribution and microsegregation behavior

Reviewing solidification phenomena in weld metals, the previous report profiles characteristic microstructures and solidification morphologies in weld metals and their relationships with welding conditions and solidification parameters. Fundamental aspects of nucleation theory during welding solidification as well as important features of constitutional supercooling and perturbation theory relating to the formation of microstructures are also discussed. The present report focuses on the solidification theory of planar interface growth and dendrite growth during welding solidification, solute redistribution and micro segregation behaviour as well as fundamental aspects of their modelling.
