摘要

Previous studies have shown contradictory results regarding the effects of obesity in the critically ill. Limited data have suggested that obesity increases the risk of prolonged mechanical ventilation and acute respiratory distress syndrome, but may also have protective effects. This retrospective cohort study aimed to determine if outcomes varied in morbidly obese patients compared to nonobese patients receiving invasive mechanical ventilation (IMV).
