Champignondagen 2002, 29-31 May: Brabanthallen's -- Hertogenbosch, Hollan

I wondered as we approached Hertogenbosch (is it really abbreviated to Den Bosch? That would ease repetition) if we would ever find the Brabanthallen in what was clearly a substantial town. No problem. Every junction clearly signposted our destination. Getting out again was quite another stow as the signs only seemed to point inwards like some civic fly trap. To our surprise the exhibition wasn't open when we arrived at 9.30 but the foyer was a wealth of international activity. Our first greeting was from an exuberant Krystian Szudyga from Poland, President of the Polish Mushroom Association. This was followed closely by a warm but slightly less exuberant William Stevens of the Canadian Mushroom Growers Association. William, as his splendid shirtdeclared, was selling the idea of attendance at the 16th North American Conference in Banff in October. Then there was Patrick Romanens, international consultant from Switzerland. But this isn't a name dropping catalogue, just an attempt to demonstrate that the Champignondagen are a truly international gathering.
