Working on the Leeds Museum Ichneumon collection

This work at Leeds has all been carried out under the supervision of the museum curators. Natural history curators are often very knowledgeable about the material in their care but they have 101 jobs to do and, like the rest of us, only one pair of hands to do them. If you have an area of knowledge which is relevant to a museum's collections and the time to devote to working on them, contact the curator in your nearest museum and offer to help. You will probably receive a warm reception. The tasks Icarried out with Clare and Joe were: collecting the specimens together; checking identifications where necessary; identifying previously unnamed specimens; attaching accession numbers; arranging the collection in taxonomic sequence; labelling the collection; producing a catalogue.
