Researchers celebrate when treatment group outcomes are significantly better than the control group results in their intervention studies. Practicing nurses consider implementing research-supported interventions to improve patient care. Still, questions often arise regarding the real reasons behind an intervention's effectiveness. The article by Donovan, Kwekkeboom, Rosenzweig, and Ward (2009) in this issue addresses the important topic of nonspecific effects of interventions.
