MANUFACTURED by Siemens VDO, the MS 2000 is a portable navigation unit consisting of a 3.5-inch colour screen which is secured to the windscreen by an excellent suction mounting. A recess on the back of the screen unit simply slots on to the mounting so that it can be easily removed for putting away in the glovebox or tucking it in your pocket. Because the unit has its own rechargeable lithium battery, you can take it with you when you go walking and it will operate for several hours. When you are using it in the car, a cigarette lighter lead provides the unit with power and recharges the battery at the same time. There is no separate GPS aerial; this is hinged to the back of the set and it folds upwards when in use.
