7 years on! Now with nearly a quarter of a million miles on the clock (!), our Mk 4 GTI 1.8T just keeps on going ...

BY THE TIME you read this, we'll be coming up to seven years with our 2000 model-year (T-reg) Mk 4 Golf GT11.8T, the car which has had numerous modifications carried out for 'Project GTI' features in the magazine. We originally bought it in July 2003, with just 60,000 on the clock and a full service history, from Volkswizard, the specialist VW Audi car sales operation in Birmingham, having traded in our previous Mk 3 GTI 8V Little did we imagine, then, that it would still be with us all this time later, or that we would have done so much with it, Amazingly, it now has over 246,000 miles on the clock, not only from regular fast road use, including daily commuting up and down the M1 to work, but also including many track days and sprints, at venues like Castle Combe, Croft, Mallory Park, Donington and Curborough, as well as quarter-miling at Santa Pod and Bruntingthorpe.
