I work at a very nice clinic, but one of the technicians has a "collecting" problem. She has over 20 cats and at least two dogs. Her bill is never up to date. Since she has moved out of her family's house, it seems obvious she can't afford the animalsshe's collected. Not many of the cats are adaptable. They have all been exposed to FIP, FJV, and probably FeLV. Some of the cats have medical and behavior problems. One of the cats refuses to use a litterbox. The dogs seem to be healthy. The last time Iwas at this tech's new home, it reeked of urine. I think the owner/vet is hesitant to fire or discipline the tech because she is afraid of the ramifications if the situation becomes public. When confronted, the tech vehemently denies having a collecting problem. The vet has tried to help the tech by charging her very minimal fees for services and supplies. Has anyone else encountered this situation? Can a vet be subject to discipline if he or she knows about this problem?
