Maintenance problems of run-off-river power plants in the change of time

The mentioned examples are to illustrate of the full range of problems. Naturally the problems encountered are in line with the change of times. Maintenance engineers of all fields, e.g. civil engineering, hydrology and surveying, as well as electrical and mechanical engineering are to find new solutions and to ensure the substance and reliability of power plants. The life cycle of hydro-power stations can be described with the well-know "bath curve" (Figure 6). The classification into "young plants", "medium-aged plants" and "old plants" gives an idea about future problems for the next generation of maintenance engineers.
