Preparation and introduction of an environmental protection handbook by an electricity supply undertaking-practical experience

A part of an environmental management system is the preparation of environment documentation, towhich an environmental protection handbook also belongs. Such a handbook has been produced byESKOM for its total undertaking. With the help of this handbook, most elements of the EnvironmentManagement System are addressed (strategy, planning, implementation and operation, auditing andcorrecting measures, as well as auditing by the undertaking's management). However, the handbookhas a more important function in supporting daily work on site. In the meantime, the data are fed intothe existing ESKOM network, to which access has been made more cost-effective and simplified.
