AWT Fusion, the Malaysian division of Fusion, the global leader in polyethylene pipe jointing techniques, has been chosen to help install an underwater potable water supply pipeline between the Kin-men Islands located on the Taiwan Straits. The complexity of the project was heightened with the seabed being littered with unexploded mines.Mr C T Toh, the Operations Manager of AWT Fusion, initially made contact with the two consultants responsible for the design of this project, Intec Engineering of Malaysia and King-Tech Engineering Consultants of Taiwan. The consultants, after due consideration and study, provided a specification for the jointing of the polyethylene pipes and this was made available to pipeline contracting companies in the region. The Taiwanese Government funded the project.
