SCRUBBING GASES WHEN PRODUCING HIGH PURITY GRAPHITES

This work examines the basic rules governing mass exchange in batch operating gas scrubbers, which are the bases for equations used to make tehnological calculation in gas scrubbing. The unit's layout is shown in Fig. 1. Waste gases (WG) are delivered by an exhaust fan 1 to a scrubber 2, equipped with sprayers to spray soda solutions (SS); they are prepared in a tank with a mixer 3, and transferred by pump 4 to a circulating tank 5, then supplied to the sprayers by pump 6. On contact of WG with aerosols, the SS provide for chemsorption of soda with oxide gases. The scrubbed WG are freed from aerosols in a condensation trap 7 and are separated to tube 8. The SS from the scrubber and thecondensation trap are added to tank 5. Thus, the SS is in continuous movement in a closed circulating system (CS).
