The proximate and mineral composition of six landraces of Bambara groundnut

A study was conducted in Botswana, in 2000-01, to determine the proximate and mineral composition of six landraces of bambarra groundnut (Vigna subterranea). These landraces were OM 1 and Gaborone Cream from Botswana; AHM 753 and AHM 968 from Namibia; and Swazi Red and Nyakeni C 2 from Swaziland. Results showed that the landraces were good sources of protein. They had satisfactory mineral contents, particularly Mg and P.
