A new manufacturing concept for corona rollers: practical transfer of plasma surface technologies from research to industrial application

During a polymer metallization project for cleanroom application, funded by the German department of research (BMBF), besides other activities a new manufacturing concept for corona rollers was developed. It was carried out with the partners:Institute for composite materials (Kaiserslautern), Coatec GmbH (Schluchtern, a plasma sprayer) and IBM Germany (Mainz).What is a corona process and what is it used for? During a corona treatment a polymer foil surface is activated for further application like colouring and adhesion.
