In November 2009, Southwark Trading Standards received information from HMRC that they had intercepted a package of counterfeit GHD hair straighteners destined for Emetebure Eruohwo-Adogbeji - a single mother, living on benefits, who resided at an address on the Old Kent Road. A month later, police officers and officers from Southwark Trading Standards visited the address where they discovered more than 850 counterfeit electrical and beauty product items bearing various trademarks. A laptop and documentation were also seized, including details of a bond in Eruohwo-Adogbeji s name for 53,000 poonds. This did not seem to reflect her personal circumstances.
