Germany - As reported on the front page of this issue, the Mercedes-Benz New Actros is completely new - new cab, new driveline and new lighter weight chassis. The cab design has been focused on providing more space for the driver, in every aspect. From October, seven cabs in all are to be on offer and these are based on four variations, five of which offer a fully flat floor and in two widths of 2.3m or 2.5m. Its biggest cab, the GigaSpace replaces its previous biggest, the MegaSpace. GigaSpace is four metres high, offers headroom of 2.13m and beats its predecessor in volume by some 920 litres - almost a whole cubic metre - giving a total volume of 11.6 cu m, which Daimler states, is a record for a European truck cab.
