摘要

Mumbai/Bengaluru - Tata Motors Ltd of Mumbai, together with the Indian Space Research Organisation, ISRO, the principal space agency for the Indian government, have begun field trials of what it claims is the country's first ever fuel cell bus to have been developed completely indigenously. The development of the vehicle is the result of several years of research by the two organisations and follows a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between them back in 2006 to work together in the design and development of such a product. As part of the minute of understanding, in 2006/07 Tata Motors set up a fuel cell power system test laboratory in Bangalore and shortly thereafter, another such facility was set up at ISRO's Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre (LPSC) in Mahendragiri, Tamil Nadu. According to V Gnana Gandhi, an honorary advisor for ISRO, important additional contributions to the fuel cell bus project have come from the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) and Petroleum and Explosive Safety Organisation (PESO).
