European heavy tyre market accounts for 17m tyres/year, says Continental

Germany/UK -Announcing the launch of its second generation tyre range for the medium and heavy duty transportation sector in London last month, Continental AG provided an overview of the tyre market in the medium and heavy duty commercial vehicle and construction vehicle segments in Europe. Arthur Gregg, Commercial Vehicles Sales Director, Continental Tyres UK Ltd indicated that the European market for new tyres and retreads in the truck, bus and construction sectors exceeded 17 million last year. A revision of the market three years ago led to Continental realigning its product segments into three end user divisions: Goods (trucks); People (coach and bus) and Construction (on/off highway vehicles).
