A vehicle tyre (1) has a multi-layer tread strip (2) comprising two or more different layers (2a, 2b) on top of each other with their common boundary surface (3ab) above the minimum tread pattern depth (Tmin) ensuring that the lower (2b) of these layers contacts the road surface later in the tyre life. The glass transition temperature (Tg) of the tread strips (2a, 2b) differ from each other by = 16 deg C, preferably by 20-30 deg C.
