Jamna Auto links with Ridewell for air suspension systems

Jamna Auto Industries (JAI), a leading manufacturer of commercial vehicle leaf springs and parabolic springs, has announced that it had inked a technical assistance agreement with Ridewell Corporation of Springfield, Missouri, USA, for manufacturing and/or improving suspension systems and components based on technology provided by Ridewell. There is growing demand for air suspension systems in India; the current estimated market size is 4,000 vehicles a year. Currently there are few suppliers in this segment; Wheels India, Madras SAF Holland and Hendrickson. Wheels India continues to dominate the market with over 90% market share. Madras SAF Holland, a joint venture between Madras Suspension Ltd and Germany's SAF Holland GmbH, has set up a manufacturing facility in Madurai. America's Hendrickson International of Troy, Michigan, USA has a joint venture with the TACO Group (the component supply division of Tata) and has established a. manufacturing facility at its headquarters in Pune. Both of the latter joint venture companies are in the process of developing products for the Indian market.
