Scania and Siemens link in Sweden's first electric truck highway project

Sweden/Germany - Scania AB of Sodertalje, part of Volkswagen Truck & Bus GmbH, Sweden, in partnership with Siemens AG of Munich, Germany staged the official opening of the world's first eHighway in Gavle, Sweden. The system is to operate for two years employing a Siemens catenary system for trucks along a two-kilometre stretch of the E16 highway, north of Stockholm.
