Ingersoll Rand opens new plant near Chennai

Chennai/USA - March saw Ingersoll Rand, the parent company of the Thermo King brand, the air conditioning and refrigerated product specialist for trucks and buses, inaugurate a new 15,200 sq m manufacturing facility on a green field site, near Chennai. This new facility, to be operated by Ingersoll-Rand (India) Ltd of Bangalore has been established to manufacture the majority of Ingersoll Rand's product range for the Indian market offering solutions for industrial applications as well as for mobile applications such as HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) products for buses and coaches and refrigeration products for trucks, trailers and containers. Until now these products have been imported from overseas and sold to customers, once minor modifications had been made. With this manufacturing facility in place, the Thermo King brand expects to be able to lower its costs and meet specific customer price and product targets.
