Application of temporary traffic management for road maintenance is emerging as a distinct discipline within the highways sector - with better training and standards of design and operation. Senior researcher Graham Coe of TRL gave a presentation at the Traffex exhibition in April on latest changes to Chapter 8 of the Traffic Signs Manual. He did so to a packed seminar room. This chapter of the manual relates to 'Temporary Traffic Management' and is an important document for many traffic and highway engineers. Its revision over the past few years has also helped to bring about a recognisable change in road maintenance.
