Careers champions sought to further promote our sector

Signs are that efforts to promote training opportunities in transportation are having a positive effect on recruitment. But professionals from all areas of our sector should ask themselves if they can do more to highlight the range of career opportunities on offer, says CIHT's Spencer Palmer. After being allowed to stay in the role of Chair of CIHT's Membership & Skills Strategy Board for another year I have been asked to give my view on the state of learning and development in our sector as an introduction to this year's Guide. I am pleased to say there is plenty to talk about and there are distinct signs that the message that training is vitally important is getting across. CIHT cannot claim all the credit for this but the Institution is providing much needed leadership and direction to help make sure there are enough transport professionals with the right skills to meet current and future demands.
