Running an effective strategic planning retreat

Avery close friend called recently to ask if I could facilitate an upcoming strategic planning retreat for his company and unfortunately the days he needed were already booked. So, what I did offer was to send him a quick overview of what I feel it takes to put together a successful strategic planning retreat. 1. The best place to start is at the end. Step one is to create a very specific description of exactly what you want as the deliverable from the event. What would a perfect outcome look like? How will it be measured? If you can figure out specifically what you want the retreat to achieve, it is pretty easy to go backwards from the finish line and build a program to reach it successfully.
