摘要

Motion induced interruption (MII) rate is used as a seakeeping criterion to quantitatively compare platforms in terms of how often operators must interrupt their tasks to actively maintain balance. Further, MII rate may be indicative of risk associated with task performance. It may be speculated that conventional rigid models lack ecological validity and may not represent realistic predictions of operator risk. During recent North Atlantic sea trials aboard the Quest research vessel, subjects were monitored during the execution of various manual materials handling (MMH) tasks. Platform motions were recorded in 6 degrees of freedom and were synchronized to observed MII events. These observed MIIs were used to tune an inverted pendulum articulated postural stability model for predicting MII rate and times of occurrence. The tuned model reproduced the MII rate and agreed in time for 41% of MII events. Differences between observed and predicted Mils are discussed in terms of requirements for appropriate MII modelling.
