摘要

A kinetic spraying process that was essentially a solid-state deposition process was used for the formation of a fully amorphous coating. By using helium as the process gas and through the application of a preheating system for the powder carrier gas, it was possible to form a fully amorphous coating. The main process parameters evaluated in this study were the carrier/process gas species (N-2 and He) and the preheating temperature [RT, 450 degrees C (below Tg) and 550 degrees C (liquid metallic region)]. Aside from an empirical approach, the in-flight particle velocity within the kinetic spraying process was measured. The amorphous phase fraction was calculated from differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) data.
