The iconic Ford 7000 is a favourite and Michael Hoey's re-restored 1975 example is perhaps the best. Many Fordson El A Majors were converted to six-cylinders in an effort to gain more power and, although the Basildon-built Y series 5000 helped with 75hp under the bonnet, more power really came in 1971 with the turbo-charged four-cylinder 7000 that provided 94hp. This member of the 1000 Series range of Fords was the one everyone wanted, and still wants, and that is reflected in the market for good examples - provided the 'famous' Load Monitor position and draft control system is working and in good condition.
