摘要

This paper describes the investigation results of the potential utilization of copper mine tailings in construction materials such as clay bricks, sand-lime bricks and masonry cement. The data included in the paper concern the locations of the copper mining areas in India as well as the chemical, physical, and mineralogical characteristics of copper tailings. The detailed chemical analysis indicates that all the heavy metal and toxic elements present in copper tailings are within the standard limits. Therefore very good possibilities are indicated for the use of copper tailings in the production of construction materials which meet the standard specifications, thus making this waste a great secondary resources for saving primary raw materials and also processing energy.
