NORWAY & SENEGAL: TiZir Completes Tyssedal Ilmenite Smelter Conversion

TiZir Ltd., which is jointly owned by Eramet (of Paris) and Mineral Deposits Ltd. (MDL, of Melbourne), has passed an important milestone with the completion of a $US 70-80 million project to refurbish and expand its Norwegian ilmenite smelter so as to enable the production of chlorinatable slag, using Senegalese ilmenite feedstock. The project - outlined in TiO2 Worldwide Update, Year: 2015, Vol.23, no.1, pages 20-21 - was completed in mid-December 2015, on time and on budget.
