MEXICO: DuPont Awards EPCM Contract to Jacobs for Altamira Plant Expansion

The news that DuPont intends to spend $US 500 million to install a second line at its Altamira pigment plant first broke on 11 May 2011. The current nameplate capacity of the first line here is 140,000 t.p.a., but this may well be stepped up to 160,000-170,000 t.p.a. over the next three years by means of "facility upgrades." The capacity of the new second line will be 200,000 t.p.a. and it should come on-stream before the end of 2014. (See TiO2 World-wide Update, Year: 2011, Vol.19, no.2, pages 24-26).
