摘要

Low density lipoprotein receptor (LDLR) is a mosaic protein that mediates the endocytosis of cholesterol-rich LDL and recognizes the apoE protein found in chylomicron and VLDL remnants. Proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type9 (PCSK9) is a serine protease that reduces both hepatic and extrahepatic low-density lipoprotein receptor levels and increases plasma LDL cholesterol [1]. Chemokine CXC motif ligand 12 (CXCL12), a well-known chemoattractant for lymphocytes and monocytes, is a potent platelet agonist that play a role in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis [2]. All of these three genes were candidate genes of atherosclerosis and genetic variations in these genes were found associated with atherosclerotic phenotypes in different populations [3-7].
