FY'07 Ocean Freight Rates To Go Up In Japanese Steel Exports

Indications are that ocean freight rates for fiscal 2007 (April 2007-March 2008) will go up in export shipments of various steel products out of Japan. Japan's major trading houses are scheduled to enter serious negotiations shortly with the shipping companies concerned on new freight rates for export cargoes of steel products in fiscal 2007. The shipping companies have requested a freight rate increase in fiscal 2007 since the summer of this year. As a result, there is a possibility that the new freight rates will take the form of an advanced execution once they are settled.
