Brazilian resources company MMX Mineracao e Metalicos S.A. ("MMX") has placed order with the consortium of Confab Industrial S.A., Siat S.A. and Marubeni-Itochu Steel Inc., for the supply of pipes required for constructing the Minas-Rio System mine-to-port slurry pipeline, MMX announced Sep. 17 in its report on the recent developments in the Minas-Rio System. The contract contemplates the supply of approximately 539 km of welded steel pipes with 24 and 26-inch diameters. Deliveries are scheduled to take place between Mar. and Dec. 2008. The Company announced that the construction of the shipping base, Acu Port commenced on Sep.17 as well.
