NYK Line announced Sep. 15 the conclusion of a 12-year COA with BHP Billiton. Under the terms of the COA, NYK will assume transport of 2.7 Mtpa of Western Australian iron ore produced by BHP Billiton to China with a 250,000- dwt class dedicative ore carrier over a period of 12 years commencing in 2013. In addition to the above COA, NYK Line already started in April this year its transport service with a 200,000-dwt Capesize bulker for the period of three years. This is the first longterm deal of over ten years for NYK Line to conclude with BHP Billiton.
