Projects Of Iron Ore Producers With Chinese Steelmakers

Crude steel production in January 2004 recorded 19,390,000 tons, up 25.5 percent over the same month of 2003, still keeping the high level. Despite of China's New Year holidays (January 22 - 28), crude steel production of the country in January showed no slowing down pace of an increase. Paying a keen attention on such growth of China, iron ore producers in the world have been progressing many joint projects with Chinese steelmakers as partners, which include development of an iron mine, conclusion of a long-term contract for the sale of iron ore, and joint construction of a pellet plant. On the other hand, Chinese steelmakers have been advancing the relationship with iron ore producers through a contract for the supply of raw materials by iron ore producers. One of the Chinese steelmakers launches joint construction a steelworks in an overseas country with an iron ore producer.
