Demand For Special Steels In Japan For Oct.- Dec. 2006 Is Anticipated To Maintain Firm Tone

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) of Japan released on the 28th of September a forecast of the demand for special steel products in Japan for the fourth quarter (October - December) of 2006. According to this estimation, the quantities (on monthly base) of special steel products to be demanded in Japan for October - December quarter of 2006 will be for domestic market : 1,235,000 tons (to increase 1.1 percent from that estimated for the preceding quarter of July - September), for exports : 519,000 tons (to increase by 2.3 percent from that in July - September quarter) and total : 1,753,000 tons (to increase by 1.4 percent from 1,728,000 tons estimated for July - September quarter), which is also to increase by 1.9 percent compared with that (1,685,000 tons) produced in October - December quarter of 2005.
