Separation and contact of sets of different dimensionsin a doubling environment

In this note we consider two problems related to the geometry of spacesof homogeneous type. First, we give necessary and sufficient geometric conditions ontwo components of different dimension of a metric measure space, in order to guaranteethe doubling property on the whole space. Second, we construct spaces of homogeneoustype by pasting measures of different dimensions.
