SCCP Clears Three Hair-Dye Ingredients;More Info Needed On Others

The European Commission's Scientific Committee on Consumer Products(SCCP)issued opinions last week for half a dozen hair-dye ingredients,pronouncing three risk-free and three insufficiently studied.On May 7,SCCP released opinions for 4-nitro-o-phenylenediamine and 3-amino-2,4-dichlorophenol HC1,determining that the use of either as an oxidative hair dye substance at a restricted level "does not pose a risk for the health of the consumer,apart from its sensitizing potential."
