The Cosmetic Ingredient Review Expert Panel is eeking safety data for antioxidant ingredient kojic acid, a substance increasingly used as an alternative to controversial skin-whitener hydroquinone. During a Sept. 24-25 meeting in Washington D.C., panelists determined there is insufficient evidence to move kojic acid toward a tentative final safety conclusion; the panel has issued a formal insufficient data request.
