LINSTON SUCCESS AT CORUS SCUNTHORPE

UK metallurgical and injection technologies specialist Linston Industrial Sales Limited recently completed a turnkey project at Corus BOS plant, Scunthorpe. The company designed, manufactured installed and commissioned a new ladle carbon injection system at Corus Scunthorpe. In today's modern, increasingly automated steel plants, there are certain practices that have remained unchanged since the early days of steel manufacture. Take for example, the addition of recarburising materials to molten steel in the final stages of trimming. Throwing bags of pre-weighed recarburiser around is still coromon place, but nonetheless an arcane and inefficient method of adding a precise quantity of carbon. Linston has long been at the forefront of slag foaming systems for electric arc furnaces. This expertise is now focused on injection systems for other applications which require tightly controlled additions.
