Development of mega structure steel for next generation is expected to go into full gear. The kick-off meeting for the research and development of the next-generation mega structure steel, which was selected as one of the major mid-term technology development projects in 2004 to be pursued until 2009, was held at Kolon Hotel in Kyungju, Kyungsangbuk-do October 26. This project is the one to be commissioned by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy (MOCIE). The Korea Research Association of New Iron & Steelmaking Technology (KRANIST) will become the agency to in charge of overall management on the project with Kwon Yung-kak, a center head of the Research Institute for Science and Technology (RIST) assuming the responsibility of putting together the subjects.
