Plate Exports higher rate than Domestic Sales in January-February

Exports of plates were found to have risen higher than domestic sales. The accumulated sales by the two domestic plate makers, POSCO and Dongkuk Steel totaled 872,900 tons in the first two-month period, up 1.7 percent from 858,400 tons in the same period last year. Of those sales, domestic sales posted 872,900 tons, edging up 1.4 percent from 858,400 tons a year ago and exports 81,600 tons, up 4.1 percent from 78,400 tons. In terms of sales volume, domestic sales took a large portion of the entire sales, but such an increase in exports was analyzed to have resulted from the makers efforts exerted as that much for the expansion of their overseas sales.
