POSCO to Become One of 3 Big Steelmakers in Production Volume, Top 3Steelmakers in Product Quality in Global Steel Industry

POSCO Chairman Lee Ku-taek gave a lecture under the subject of 'the mega competition in the global steel industry and POSCO's strategy for growth in the future,' on August at a CEO Forum hosted by the National Academy of Engineering of Korea. In his lecture on that day, POSCO Chairman Lee said, 'POSCO will becomeone of the world's three largest steelmakers in terms of production volume and one of the world's top three steelmakers in terms of product quality at the same time by raising its annual global crude steel production capacity to more than 50 million tons, lifting the ratio of raw material development and purchase to more than 30 percent and hoisting the ratio of high-grade steel production to more than 70 percent,' adding, 'POSCO is steadily pushing forward with the construction of its global management system of the company and securing global technical leadership,' and emphasized that POSCO will make the solid foundation for its global growth through the globalization of its social contribution activities.
