Dongbu Steel will sign contracts next week to purchase electric furnaces and continuous casting facilities from Danieli of Italy and hot-rolling facilities from Mitsubishi Heavy Ind. of Japan. Thus, Dongbu Steel will become to introduce 2 units of electric furnaces, 2 units of ladlefurnaces, 1 unit of vacuum refining facilities and 2 units of slab casters from Danieli and to bring in 1 unit of hot-rolling facilities that have6 stands from Mitsubishi. Dongbu Steel will be capable of producing slabs with thickness in a range of 70-75mm, once the electric furnaces and continuous casting facilities are in operation. Moreover, it will become to produce thin slabs with thickness in a range of 20-25 mm through two-stage rolling.
