CR SSC's Inventories Grow in Seasonal High-demand Period/Due to a slow recovery of demand and CR makers' continuing supply

Although the second-quarter high-demand period began on a full scale, the stockpiles of cold-rolled steel sheets (CR) at major steel service centers (SSCs) are continuously increasing. At present, those SSCs are holding CR inventories to supply for 2.5-3 months. Each SSC's yard is full of such coated flat products as hot-dipped galvanized steel sheets and electrolytic galvanized steel sheets in addition to CR. Moreover, a fast increase in the tonnage for their processing works on a commission basis is making the space of their yards insufficient. An official at CR SSC said, 'Although a seasonal high-demand period set in last month, a slow recovery of demand is continuously enlarging our stockpiles. Since we've already lifted the height of our stockpiles up to the fourth stage, there is no more space for stock.
