摘要

Antimutagenicity of water extracts of dried fruits of Emblica officinalis Gaertn (Amla) and Terminalia chebula Retz (Myroblan Vern. "Harar") has been determined against acidic solution of sodium azide (NaN_3; pH 6.0) in Trigonella foenum-graecum L. using toxicity to germination and growth as the criterion. Azide mutagenized seeds treated with differentially diluted fruit extracts, exhibited considerable antimutagenic activity by way of promotary effects on seed germination as well as on seedling growth. Relatively, Amla fruit extract was found to be more efficient as antimutagen than Myroblan fruit extract.
