INHIBITORY ACTIVITY OF Euphorbia humifusa FOR α-GLUCOSIDASE in vitro AND in vivo

Euphorbia humifusa belongs to the Euphorbiaceae family and is widely distributed in China [1]. E. humifusa is an important traditional Chinese medicine used under the names Qingrejiedu, Liangxuezhixue, and Lishituihuang [2]. Phytochemical research showed the presence of flavonoids, phenols,β-pyrrolidinonoids, and triterpenoids [3–6]. Pharmacological investigations showed that flavonoids and sesquiterpenoids in E. humifusa have inhibitory activity against HBV [7, 8]. However, no research has so far been conducted concerning the α-glucosidase inhibitory compounds from this plant.
