Ebola virus disease: awareness among junior doctors in England

The current Ebola virus epidemic continues to pose a threat to the UK. Junior clinicians are often at the frontline of medical care in hospitals and their awareness of the clinical features and management of the Ebola virus disease (EVD) may significantly influence the timely implementation of infection control measures. In view of this, we carried out a cross-sectional survey of 119 junior doctors across four different hospitals in England in order to assess their level of knowledge of EVD. We demonstrate that there is currently a deficiency of knowledge about critical aspects of EVD in this population. (C) 2015 The Healthcare Infection Society. Published by Elsevier Ltd.
