Tubercular liver abscess is an uncommon occurrence. Nevertheless one should be aware of this entity when dealing with patients of liver abscess. We report a case of a 25 year immunocompetent adult female who presented with this condition. She was diagnosed by demonstrating AFB in the aspirated pus, put on Anti Tubercular Treatment and responded well to treatment. Liver can be involved in miliary tuberculosis and this is a common condition. But tuberculosis presenting as liver abscess is not common. It may be present when there is evidence of tubercular infection elsewhere in the body or when the patient is in an immunocompromised state. We report a case of a immunocompetent adult who did not have evidence of tuberculosis elsewhere in the body but who was diagnosed to be having tubercular liver abscess.
